Hello Adrian,

Yes, if you only stay with the content of one heavily ideologized 
instance, they are the ultimate echo chamber.

In order to get more well rounded views, you need to follow several people 
from several instances to get a nicer global view of things.

Then you have the "mega" instances like mastodon.social (well, mega as in 
millions, but not 100s of millions of members). Those are closer to 
twitter.
