There are plenty of indefinite life extension scenarios that do not involve
a technological Singularity. Consider, say, something like Star Trek's
Federation plus anti-aging: the young ever remain the majority because more
people keep being born (which pushes colonization of the solar system,
maybe eventually beyond - but if we can get extraterrestrial colonization
going, it'd be centuries before we seriously tax what the entire solar
system could support, especially given the increases to Earth's ability to
support humanity that would inherently result from the technology that
would be developed), but there exist many individuals who have lived a
century - then two, then three, then et cetera - who are just part of
society, which age can be aspired to by those who have yet to achieve it.
