Of the fields of science I follow, my favorite it astronomy.  It is a great time to be alive if one follows astronomy.

 

The field of science that has undergone the biggest advances in recent years is probably virology, but astronomy has found a lotta cool new stuff as a result of the mind-blowing results from the LIGO experiment, detecting gravity waves.  That research led to changes in the theory of how the heavier-than-iron elements formed.  Check this:
