The viewpoint character of «Saturn's Children» is a sex bot, but ...
The key point I got out of the book was that human extinction did not 
free the bots (of all kinds) from the abstract structures that owned 
them, for corporations are immortal.

In «Neptune's Brood» the extinction is deeper in the past; are humans 
even mentioned?  It did not seem like the same timeline.
