Uploading requires nanotech or something like it. So people who don't
upload should not have a problem with anything they need. But social
isolation is another problem. In a massive population crash driven by
uploading, I suspect the cities will be abandoned in favor of smaller
places. That's discussed in the clinic seed, but it is off line right
now.
