I still think the book:
Love and Sex with Robots: The Evolution of Human-Robot Relationships
by David Levy published in 2008
is one of the better treatments of this subject matter. Amazingly, the
book is mostly about the human psychological predisposition to fall in
love with cars, tomoguchi, and other inanimate objects.
