Maybe in the future, but most of the low-grade scams like that I've seen
have still been readily identifiable.

That's a good idea even aside from AI.  Natural disasters still happen.

People keep promising massive civil unrest.  Now that conditions are here
which should generate it, I'm seeing a lot of nothing on that front.
Complaints, sure.  Increased vitriol and hate, sure.  But actually going
out on the street and doing something?  The Floyd protests did a lot more
than what's going on now.

I heard of one political tracker who'd had an ear for what animal
represents the major political parties.  For years, Democrats had been
likened to turtles or other slow, plodding creatures.  Now they're being
likened to deer in headlights: they see trouble incoming, and are seen to
be just standing there and letting it happen.
