You can tell we're on a relatively smooth exponential curve, because the
parts behind us look flat ("the humanoid robots get confused. The chatbots
still seem a little stilted when they ace every standardized test in human
history") and the part in front of us looks vertical.

Every part of an exponential curve looks like that.
