We have long known that in principle, political influence can be sold, and we have long known digital currency enables corruption. In the case of POTUS, pardons can be sold. From what we are hearing, someone in the White House had set up a pardon vending machine.
There has been debate over whether BitCoin is traceable. But if someone sets up a Bitcoin account and gives you the access codes, until you access that money, there is no evidence, none. So a bribe can be made to an official in the form of access codes to BitCoin, which the receiver does not access, perhaps until many years later. Of course that enables the payer to steal the money, but it also covers the receiver.
Result: a POTUS can sell pardons. We know that. For S-alphas it doesn’t matter however, for that level of corruption would be limited to convicts who own a ton of money, which is a small fraction of them. Even then, we have some evidence it isn’t happening, such as in the case of Jeffery Epstein who had plenty of money but didn’t get a pardon.
We know all that, and accept it as the price of digital currency. Given that, the BB ballroom is irrelevant to me. That building isn’t what enables corruption. BitCoin enables corruption. No ballroom required.
