Americans and it's just dumb. We only got that word because Columbus was so
stupid that when he landed in the Bahamas he thought he was in India. He
knew how far he had sailed, and even the ancient Greeks had a good estimate
about how big the Earth was, so he should've known that he couldn't
possibly be in India. Columbus even made sure that one member of his crew
could speak Arabic because he figured that Indians speak Chinese (they
don't) and Chinese is very similar to Arabic (it isn't).  *
