Cool thx.

I visited the Moss Landing site yesterday, where the battery fire happened. I wanted to look at the site to see for myself its potential. It is hard to see much of anything from the road side, as they have everything blocked off. You can see scorched buildings nearby which apparently did not burn. I rented a kayak and paddled around back. Afterwards I came away convinced that site would be built back with batteries, and realized why: it has the infrastructure in place which makes it extremely valuable as an energy storage site.

What I don’t know and what determines if I will invest in it, is what fire protection systems they will have in place this time. There hasta be a way to isolate a thermal runaway to protect the rest of the batteries.

It was a nice kayaking day and very informative. Those two vertical features are smoke stacks from the Moss Landing power plant, on which is the lithium battery storage facility.

I predict the Moss Landing station will be back within four years (assuming the Singularity doesn’t happen before then.)
