I see, so you would be OK with it if Oklahoma grabs the nominee the day after a major political party's convention and puts her in prison with little explanation? Perhaps the Oklahoma authorities insist that they held a trial, a jury of the defendant's peers. Guilty! Sentence: five years.
No you wouldn't, and neither would we. That isn't how our legal system works. States cannot do this kind of thing. The founders foresaw that problem and arranged for these kinds of issues to be settled by congress thru the process of impeachment.
I will note that the law you quoted appears to have been designed for one person, and I know of only one person who has ever been "convicted" of it. That isn't how our legal system works either.
