John I was puzzled by the triple logical contradiction.  You stated three different things: a former career which funded a comfortable lifestyle (excellent, this is the kind of thing which makes society strong and moved humanity forward) then a lifestyle which fails to result in a comfortable lifestyle now, then a reference to luck, which is somewhere in between.
