Fun aside: I was in a fast food restaurant this morning where they installed
this:

Engineers and designers are responsible for anticipating how a reasonable
user will abuse or misuse their product to harm themselves or others.

The goal is to avoid the obvious goofs.

The design above precludes dumping trays into the garbage slot and the
recycle slot, because the tray shelf is interfering right above it.

I watched a dozen customers use the arrangement, and all of them did the
same thing, completely foreseeable: they dumped everything in the leftmost
compost bin.

That particular restaurant is known for its liberal use of plastic. So now
their "compost" bin is full of plastic and non-compostables, meaning none of
that can be composted.

This of course simplifies the disposal process, for now there is just the
one bag which needs emptying, the compost bag, which is hurled into the
garbage dumpster out back.
