John we can easily see what is coming. News reporters and producers don’t work for free. Mainstream news agencies must support an expensive infrastructure to do what they do. They need to sell subscriptions or ad space. But this is getting ever more difficult when they are competing against free. The race to the bottom is over once you reach the ground, which is free. We can see all mainstream news agencies are as doomed as the print newspapers were twenty years ago. They are doomed. It’s game over for the professional news industry.
OK so… now what? TwitterX is free, Truth Social, Reason, Blue Sky, free free free. These media have a magic way of collectively finding stuff out: people post there. I anticipated something like this back in the 90s, and now, after all this time… here it is.
We know that stories on TwitterX and the other sites aren’t necessarily true (most of it isn’t probably) but we didn’t know that for mainstream sources either. But like the mainstream news sources, TwitterX contains true stuff. To be of any real use, verification links are needed. Mainstream news agencies generally do not provide those. So in that sense, some TwitterX news sources are better than mainstream professional news agencies.
Conclusion: TwitterX (and the other free social media) are the new news.
