Of course we will go biologically extinct, AI or no AI. That's the nature of biological species, they go extinct. That's not the important point.

What's important is whether or not our minds can survive into the future. Hopefully, AI can help with that. Either our minds literally, or our 'mind-children'. Either would be a win. The main goal, surely, is to increase the amount of conscious intelligence in the universe. Anything else is secondary, including our own individual lives.
