Keith as I thought about those two comments, I realized Europe didn’t have a large power failure this season, it had a failure to prepare. I realized something I didn’t see on my tour of Europe in 2025: I didn’t see many window AC units. From what I could tell, many residential buildings of Europe do not have AC. Europeans among us, is this correct? Europe lost thousands to heat, but didn’t actually have a widespread power failure?

AC window units are not expensive. If the citizens will not spend a few hundred euros on those things because they aren’t often needed, the fault is scarcely the heat wave. Europeans must get window AC units, then build out the power infrastructure needed to run them all simultaneously in the occasional freak heat wave. Get emergency Diesel power generators, which can be cranked up if the heat wave happens in low wind conditions.

If the green’s arguments are correct, Europe faces more heat waves, both more frequent and more intense. If so, the AC window units will be needed. China is still industrializing, and their carbon emissions have now exceeded Europe’s, according to the NY Times:

European countries have socialism, so their governments have all the money they need to build out the power infrastructure necessary to support 100 million window AC units.

So what’s the holdup?
