Ja of course.  But what I meant is: what if the California guy lost the election because of odd looking results out of California, which also handed the other party iron grip control of both houses of congress.

If there is sufficient money involved, signed vote applications will appear.  It will not be clear which ones are bogus and which are real.

As position and momentum are complementary properties for a particle, convenience and confidence are complementary in elections.  As we make voting ever more convenient, we lose confidence in the outcome.  After we saw what happened in the Los Angeles mayor race a few weeks ago and the Wisconsin governor primary last week (oops how could those five data cards be blank?) it is clear we have sacrificed confidence for convenience.
