It doesn't matter much what, if at all, people think about AI.  It is
happening now, and the powerful forces of greed, anticipating a
mountain of gold, will not be thwarted.

Why are people anticipating a mountain of gold?  The last few decades
have taught investors that they can do very well indeed if they get
into the latest technology early.  AI is the latest technology,
therefore . . .

I am just astounded that the amount of money going into AI data
centers is on a par with the defense budget.  Wash Post today.
