Indeed, the change I've noticed in AI in the past few months feels like
today's tools are on a completely different level than they were from a few
months ago.
I have used an AI to write two books nearly fully autonomously, and just
yesterday, I collaborated with an AI to write this research paper (starting
from almost nothing beforehand):

The AI gathered all the references, did all the LaTeX formatting, formed
all the equations, and even derived some synthesizing formulas that were
more general and simplified than the ones I had given it.
