Whether they're a good idea or not, it seems a safe bet that a lot of
money will be spent on them.
Good news for me, I suppose: this makes the case, blatantly in the
eyes of those who fund such things, that cheaper launch of hardware to
orbit will have customers. Sometimes that's all one needs to get
funding to serve a market - even if I suspect that space based solar
power will likely have more impact by the end of this century,
Singularity or no Singularity, than space based data centers.
