I really relate to those guys old enough to talk about how the internet
impacted us in the 80s, the feeling of power that comes from suddenly being
able to find out anything, and the sudden removal of barriers to publishing.
Anyone, with or without money, could publish anything. The challenge was to
find the good stuff (then of course one had to listen to that absurd noise
the dial modem would make back then (why was that sound necessary?
(couldn't they play the intro to a Beatles tune or elevator music or
something?)))
I would be interested in your take on this short "documentary"
(advertisement really) particularly at about the 14 minute mark about AI and
open source. These guys claim OpenAI is anything but open:
