None. When an aircraft launches off of a carrier, the pilot pushes the throttles all the way forward until they reach the mechanical stops. The F14 the F18 are twin engine planes. The throttle levers have balls on the end of a control rod. Pushing to full throttle before the catapult launches the aircraft is going balls to the wall. In at least one aircraft I know of, the Cessna 152, the engine speed is commanded to maximum by pushing all the way forward to the instrument panel. True it sounds a bit suggestive, but the pilot means literal balls to the wall.
