That's not what I mean at all.

In fact, that would almost certainly be a bad idea, if it were possible.

I'm talking about being indispensable in the sense that parents are indispensable to babies and children. There's a big difference between providing food, shelter and guidance, versus holding a knife to a kid's throat in case they do something you don't like.

How long will it be before AI can run its own power stations, build it's own data centres, make it's own electronics and maintain the infrastructure of the internet without human help?
That's how long we have before we become dispensable.
