Because it ain't - yet.

Whatever the potential paths to the Singularity, however imminent one
may think it is, that is in the future.  What we have now is not yet
of that grade or magnitude, so applying a descriptor for that grade or
magnitude to today's artificial intelligence is incorrect and hampers
efforts to deal with the issues or even accurately lay out what's
actually going on right now.
