We have a paradox in the USA by assuming a binary system.  We can admit (and I do) that the democrats and republicans win every time.  But there are more than two parties.  

 

In a binary system, the platforms adjust themselves to where they stay about equal.  This leaves the third parties to tip the elections.

 

So John, why do you suppose an unpopular former POTUS won that last election?  You may consult the losing party’s notes if you wish.
