Note in political commentary on this subject the conflation of prices and inflation.  Once inflation has occurred, prices do not come back down, even if inflation goes to zero.  Inflation seldom goes negative, and if it does, that has its own dire consequences.  Inflation is the devaluation of currency, and it is a one-way road.  If we argue that inflation was already back down in 2024, prices were staying up.  Even if oil prices drop and resulting fuel prices drop, prices are generally sticky downward.  The voters may not get that.

Consider the alternative explanation for the results of the 16, 20 and 24 elections, what I call the anaphase theory, with the term anaphase calling out to you from your high school biology class.  Reminder:

The opposition party’s loss to the unpopular guy who won two of those three contests is explained by its being deep in the anaphase of mitosis now.  On one pole, the traditional democrat thought leaders, Joe, Nancy Pelosi, Robert Kennedy Jr, Chuck Schumer, comedians Jon Stewart, Bill Maher, strategist James Carville, that crowd.  On the other pole, Rep. Cortez, Bernie Sanders, Abdul El Sayed, Hasan Piker, Ilhan Omar, that crowd.  Understanding the anaphase theory is all we need: the democrat party is fighting World War Eleven within its own ranks, or you prefer more peaceful terms (I do) it is undergoing mitosis, and is currently in the anaphase.
