Who says they haven't tried?  For all the ineptitude of the Trump
administration, air defense around the White House remains
substantially better than typical Russian air defense.  The Secret
Service might well shoot a drone down and never let the public, or
Trump, know on the grounds that they deem it inconsequential (and, in
truth, might not be able to prove it was Iranian and have no wish to
spark further incidents without proof).

Just because something is public does not make it well-known, even
among relevant professional circles.  I'd put greater than 50% odds
that literally not one person working on the Iranian nuclear program
has heard of your method.
