Iran can claim they were firing at US bases in those countries, but their control systems aren’t that great.

 

Saudi Arabia stands to gain from having the strait closed: it has the alternative pipes and highways, and of course it benefits from higher oil prices.  Saudi Arabia knows it does not need to fire on Iran, for without oil revenue, we know what happens:

Patience John.  The number of rials to the dollar went from 1.2 million to nearly 1.6 million rials per US dollar in one month, 32% devaluation of their “currency.”  September isn’t looking any better for them.  Oil is all the Iranians have of any value, and they need that strait more than any of their neighbors.  With the strait closed, it is only a matter of time.
