>...What I mean is, it's so false. You must have had the experience of some
salesman/woman trying to be 'friendly' and coming over as totally insincere.
This is like that, only from 360 degrees, and relentless. I find it
horrifying...
OK, no worries. The whole thing really has my wheels spinning however,
because of what Religion Inc. is trying to sell. A version of it I am
familiar with offers a scene a lot like that video: it has people of various
ages, made of ordinary matter, a 1G field where you don't fly exactly, but
you can do some stuff like the Chessie Cat girl in the video: levitate
temporarily for instance. People are happy and don't get sick, they don't
age, even if they can appear at various ages. When I heard it, that version
of the afterlife very much appealed to me, and oh how I wish I could believe
it. I would believe it if I could. But I cannot.
Now this AI comes along, and shows us how it would look. People are happy
and healthy. Well, isn't that what we humans struggle to do? Find ways to
make people happy and healthy?
>...Not sure what 'get your attitute right' means. Nothing wrong with my
attitude. I am suitably surly, suspicious and anti-social. My attitude fits
the times perfectly...
Ben ya just don't come across that way most of the time online.
>...And... there are no country and western bars within a thousand miles of
where I live. At least I hope so...
Come to think of it, when I was visiting your fair country, I had a blast,
but I do not recall ever seeing anything analogous to our cowboy bars.
Puzzling, since Britain is known for fine beef, which implies cows, which
implies cowboys, for the job would necessarily be nearly identical
regardless of where on the globe one lives. Britain (and every other
country) must have some group of laborers analogous to our cowboys, doing
things analogous to what our cowboys do. Well, why wouldn't they want to go
into town, dance with their wives and sweethearts, to lively happy tunes?
And if so, why not join them?

unrealistic expectations. Haven't we had enough backlash against airbrushed
magazine cover models, anorexic fashion models, etc., for that to be
obvious?
Ja OK. One version of how cryonics will reanimate the cryonauts is by
creating a simulation of the frozen brain in some kind of AI. Well then, if
we have the choice in that sim to make everybody beautiful and happy, would
we not do it? It isn't our reality now, but it would be if we could make it
so.

We have people in films and TV shows that you could expect to see on the
street. I suspect that's not really the case in america. Otherwise, we'd see
a lot of obese actors, don't you think?
Hmmm. Ben if we all had a choice of how we look, no one would choose to be
ugly and very few would choose to be obese.

youth.

mental problems because they feel they can't measure up to the false images
presented to them by the media and AI videos...

Ja. One of the most important functions of my interaction with teenagers is
to help them understand how lucky they are. Gratitude is the opposite of
anger. If one feels an attitude of gratitude, one cannot be a grinch. I am
old enough to remember when most things sucked. Now they don't. Aaaaaallll
the coooool stuuuuuff we dreamed about for our entire lives is now coming
together, the AI, the self-driving cars, robot Olympics, all that cool
stuff, is showing up, remarkably simultaneously. Nearly every day now I see
some cool new thing on the internet.
I remember back before, how it was, but consider the generations since
humans were in about the physical configuration we are now: about a hundred
thousand generations. Of aaaallll those generations, for almost all of
them, each generation was like the one before it and the one after it. In
the last dozen generations, each one was noticeably different from the one
before and the one after. Now, my life bears very little resemblance to my
parents' lives, and even less to my son's life. Things really are
accelerating, and it is easy enough for me to envision a world where
everyone is healthy and happy, even if not exactly attractive.
