There they go again, calling it global WARMING.  The sillies.  It's climate
CHANGE.

 

An oddball year where the first hurricane is very late indicates a change,
ja?

 

I ran the numbers on it and found that although 2026 does break the record
for the latest first Atlantic hurricane, the sigma is 27.2 days, and the
mean for first hurricane is 1 Aug.  So we haven't had one yet, and there is
not much out there now, but it is only kinda weird, not insane, a 1.65 sigma
event, almost 5% chance of occurrence.  The weird part is that it hasn't
happened before now, out of the 66 years for which we have reliable data.

 

Stand by however, for there is a low pressure system out there which might
spin up into a hurricane.

 

It would be cool if we had a year where no hurricanes formed in the
Atlantic.
