<P>My alter-ego is involved in midcentury modern in a big way. The following site sends a weekly midcentury slide from Charles Phoenix's extraordinary collection. The accompanying story, which Phoenix researched, is one of real-life, midcentury primate "uplifting" for lack of a better term. It makes me think of the Great Ape Trust of Iowa, which I had never heard of until George Dvorsky. </P>
<P>This story is so depressing... so... I can't even find the words. It's a SF pulp story -- but true (or at least the main participant claims it is).</P>
