I think both <i>further</i> and <i>farther</i> are good scaffolding. According
to my usage dictionary <i>farther</i> "is often used where physical distance
is referred to." Since <i>further</i> is also used as a verb meaning to
advance, I think I like it a little better here. I'm enjoying my free time
