<html><body><div>Like a blind drunk walking in an urban alley. It's confined within certain directions because of the cumulative results of previous paths taken but there's no way to predict where it will go within those "walls". It may stop, go back, make some circles, but always within those "walls". Getting back to previous "alleys" becomes more difficult with each and every change to a new alley. So you will never see a human born that breathes carbon dioxide and exhales oxygen. That path was chosen too long ago. </div>
<div>That's not to say that the ability to breath CO2 wouldn't come to our descendents. Just that to get there would require many other changes over many other alleys to get back to that point. This is all assuming "natural" evolution of course. </div>
