In the old days, John, we had hub caps, but those are gone now, for a long time. Now its rims, which I confess I never noticed before this past weekend, being a motorcycle guy and not a car guy. Look at them: there is some subtle difference in every model year. Even long production runs of models that don’t change much, such as pickups and SUVs, will have different rims every year. They never reuse and old design. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>Since we already know the shape and know that it is probably one of four sizes, we can scale a photograph of a rim, rotate the photo so that one of the axially symmetric features is vertical, count the number of axially symmetrical features (usually five, six, or eight) then with that information, compare it with a catalog of known rims.
