</div></div></blockquote><div><br>Yes, in the US you do have punitive damages in civil cases. <br><br>In Europe, we have nanny-states with politicians bureaucrats that *especially if they are not corrupted* have nothing to win, and much to lose, by accepting any level whatsoever of risk, and stamping their acceptance thereof, so possibly becoming escape goats in PR nightmares.<br>
