<br>
It depends on how much of a speedup is possible. And the speedup will<br>
be progressive, so the maximum will probably be reached quite quickly.<br>
They won't ignore the outside world, but if you are thinking thousands<br>
of times faster you don't need to check very often. And automated<br>
systems could handle that.<br>
<br>
Another factor is that for these high-speed AIs, manipulating the<br>
physical universe would be thousands of times slower than manipulating<br>
virtual reality. The physical universe has frozen for these entities -<br>
it's boring.<br>
<br>
They will need some energy conversion to survive. But what type of<br>
energy and how much depends on what they develop with their high speed<br>
R&D. If they drift through the depths of space they would be<br>
undetectable. They only need energy for their processing and virtual<br>
reality.<br>
<br>
And what are they doing with all this AI processing? Other dimensions?<br>
Tiny black holes? Who knows what might be possible? And what keeps<br>
them going when they have so much knowledge and unlimited lifespan?<br>
<br>
Maybe they flash into super-intelligence, investigate everything, then<br>
expire from lack of purpose, all in a few years of real time. That<br>
might explain the untouched universe that we see.<br>
