Algorithmic information theory is a popular one. The fundamental issue with this is that simplicity is defined in terms of information bits, but the mapping of information onto bits is arbitrary. Different encoding methods can give completely different predictions.</p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>In other words, the theory saying “the simpler an answer or prediction is, the more likely it is to be true” is rather baseless because there is no objective way to measure simplicity.
