I read the original Vanderbilt email supposedly written by ChatGPT. It is what ChatGPT would say if it has given a very simple and linear prompt. These people do not know how to use ChatGPT, that is their mistake. Also the response is too woke and almost a caricature of what a diversity department in an organization would say. This is why they got caught, it was kind of garbage, and it was garbage because they don't know how to interact with the AI. There is nothing wrong in using AI to draft a letter but it has to be done with some level of skills and awareness to produce something useful and intelligent.
Giovanni

On Mon, Feb 20, 2023 at 9:38 AM BillK via extropy-chat <extropy-chat@lists.extropy.org> wrote:

On Mon, 20 Feb 2023 at 17:10, spike jones via extropy-chat
Most writers now use various computer writing aids.
Spellcheck, obviously. But some aids, like Grammarly, may also make
style suggestions.
>From Wikipedia:
Grammarly reviews spelling, grammar, punctuation, clarity, engagement,
and delivery mistakes in English texts, detects plagiarism, and
suggests replacements for the identified errors. It also allows users
to customize their style, tone, and context-specific language.

Providing that the ChatGPT is checked by at least two different
humans, I don't see any problem there.
(One proofreader often misses something that a second reader might
catch. Proofreading is pretty boring) :)

And I won't mention the errors in this post that my software corrected!
