It is a huge problem facing the US government. In about 2033, Social Security reverts back to how it was structured previous to 1994. That will have a jarring impact in many ways. One of the biggest is that the disabled, who have been carried on SocSec for over 30 years, go back to the states. The US federal government will be unable to help much because it will be doing all it can do to service its debt. Those who loan money to the Federal government will expect a huge risk dividend.
