I will offer you a helpful hint: of course Iran is not going to attack all of its neighbors, certainly not Saudi Arabia which is more powerful than Iran, with more advanced weapons. And yes those neighbors can truck their oil over land to the Med Sea if the strait remains closed, as I expect it will.

Soon enough, Iran’s people will be hungry enough to depose their government, reverse the 1979 revolution with a new revolution. The current rules make a lot of sense to me: data centers can build as fast as they wish, but they must bring their own power. Nevada is very open minded on power generation. Cooling water is a challenge out there, I get that, but not a show stopper. Florida looks to me like a great place for data centers, because you could use desalinated seawater for cooling. Likewise with Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, but not California because it is too wrapped up in environmental regulation.

On that topic for a minute, consider the job opportunities available building data centers. We have a marvelous confluence of factors: lots of investment capital looking for a place to land, humans coming off of jobs obviated by AI, the marvelous equality-oriented nature of construction jobs. Anyone who can operate a machine can work on construction. Everyone works shoulder to shoulder, and no one cares what color, gender or orientation that shoulder is. It is a marvelous sight, watching the local data center being built. I get to go past there more often than twice a week: people swarming all over the place, operating machines, moving earth, building away.
