This isn’t a direct rebuttal of what he is saying, because I think he is at least partly right. But his dramatic resignation can be interpreted several ways, which others here might be able to see. For instance… he could be thinking of starting his own company, dedicated to technologies aimed at preventing the utter destruction of humankind, with stock going public next week. He could have a grudge against his company (that happens.) He could be interested in slamming the door on possible AI competitors.
