Adrian is right in that there are multiple reasons, however it understates the current situation to say there is no consensus: the multiple reasons Adrian cited appear to be contradictory to each other. This goes along with my own theory: the losing party has gotten too broad a coalition, and now it contains too many elements which are incompatible with each other.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif'>In my own chosen party we are experts in that problem, for our factions are even more numerous than either of the mainstream parties and are even less compatible with each other. If one pitches too broad a tent, it collapses under its own weight.
