Forman was an intellectual and an atheist, and therefore did not fit in with 
the stereotypical image of a "safe" and malleable religious black person. 
This was also one of the main reasons he did not get as much press.

Bayard Rustin was also a historically giant figure in the civil rights 
movement (in fact, he was the one who was the principal organizer of the 
1963 civil rights march), but he was gay, and had a white lover to boot. 
These were the main reasons he did not get as much press.
