It may be a "fact", but it is also irrelevant. *She did not want to be 
kept alive in this state*. She told this to her husband and two other 
witnesses, all of whom testified to that fact in court.

Just because her parents are willing to keep her in some sort of awful 
"living death", completely dependent on others for her very nutrition 
and without a personality or intellect, is no reason to override her 
wishes and the decision of her legal guardian to follow those wishes. 
(And paranoid scenarios of murder that would be more at home on an 
episode of "Columbo" aside, her husband _is_ her legal guardian, and is 
entitled to make those decisions based on her wishes, according to the 
law.)
