I should point out that while the air might not be a good source for
bacteria, some of the funnest experiments we had in my class was when
we took swabs of the mouth, back of the throat (the flora differ
between the two), skin, other surfaces.  So you can find good sources
of bacteria and do some interesting identification experiments with
them.
