don't Americans deserve Bush? The country is corny and sentimental, so a cornball is elected president; a guy who reminds enough voters of their grandfathers is elected vice president.
  Americans have mediocre K-12 schools because too many want it that way. If no one goes broke underestimating the taste of Americans then we deserve a trash culture that is in-your-face. Rational irrationalism.
