  Non-conscious objects *don't* have rights. Nor should they. Certainly not to the extent that the "right" of a non-conscious object trumps the right of a conscious being. A dispute between two conscious beings regarding the fate of a specified non-conscious object is a dispute of the rights of the *conscious beings*, not a dispute about the (non-existent) "rights" of the object.
