They just don't do as well practicing what they preach!

Really, any sensitive person who reads enough history will be in
favor of holding celebrations for how good we have it today.
It's probably quite healthy as well as accurate to "celebrate"
the horrors of the past, and to gloat about our superiority.

But I get your point.
