I'm not Jeff but I can answer this one. These depictions aren't of
Gautama (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gautama_Buddha), but
interpretations of Maitreya
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maitreya_Buddha). Even depictions of
Maitreya differ on his physique, but Gautama is always portrayed in
excellent shape.
